BOYS ALL-STAR GAME

West 94, East 82

MULLAN — Lake City senior James Carlson scored 16 points for the West All-Stars in a 94-82 win over the East in the District 1 All-Star Game at the Mullan Pavilion Friday night.

Carlson also won the slam dunk contest at halftime of the boys game, which also featured Lakeland senior Dylan Vahey going 10 for 10 to win the boys 3-point contest.

It was a fun evening for the local ball players, especially the boys from Kellogg, who got to play another game under coach Jeff Nearing, but also got to play against former teammate and Nearing’s nephew Caleb Beggerly.

Beggerly transferred to Coeur d’Alene High School prior to his freshman year and became a football standout.

Prior to coaching the Kellogg varsity team, Nearing had coached five of Kellogg’s six senior all stars and Beggerly through the AAU program for several years.

Post Falls’ Tanner McCliment-Call scored 12 points for the East.

MULLAN — Sandpoint’s Grace Kirscher, an Eastern Washington signee, scored 20 points to earn Most Valuable Player honors, leading the West All-Stars past the East in the District 1 All-Star Game at the Mullan Pavilion.

The West Team battled through a steep numbers advantage as they only had six of their players turnout for the game, but that wasn’t going to hold them back.

Wildcat standout Kaili Cates put on a stellar performance, scoring 13 points while routinely battling her much larger opposition to secure rebounds and score putback baskets.

Kaylee Auer of St. Maries led the East with 11 points, followed by fellow Lumberjack Paige Sines and Timberlake’s Lilly Kelley and Kaylee Jezek with nine points each. Kelley won the girls 3-point competition at halftime of the girls game.
