Dead body discovered in St. Joe region

WALLACE — The Shoshone County Sheriff’s Office reports that on Saturday, July 7 around 1:30 p.m., 911 dispatch received a call referencing a body being located by a citizen recreating in the St. Joe region of Shoshone County.

Upon arrival to the area, the reporting party led deputies approximately seven miles up Huckleberry Mountain south of St. Joe River Road.

Deputies discovered a male subject, later identified as 23-year-old Lonney R. Spencer of Lewiston, deceased in his vehicle from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Spencer was reported missing/endangered the day prior by Lewiston Police Department.
